MANATEE COUNTY — Manatee County animal adoption fees are cheaper as the county is close to critical capacity.
According to the Herald Tribune, the number of pets being voluntarily surrendered is on the rise. Manatee County Animal Services has taken more than 200 owner surrenders this year.
They’re also taking in an average of 20 pets per day. According to MCAS, as a government agency they’re mandated to take in strays.
MCAS now has a $15 adoption fee through June 30th. The fee used to be $50 for dogs, puppies and kittens, and $25 for cats.
That $15 fee includes spay or neuter, a microchip, and a rabies certificate.
