SARASOTA – A man is taken to the hospital as a trauma alert after falling from a roof. It happened just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Thoroughbred Motors on U.S. 301, just north of Myrtle St. Thoroughbred Motors General Manager C.J. Mattsen says the man was doing some construction work on the roof, when he fell an estimated 20 feet into the warehouse.

“It appears that the skylight was dark or dirty and he didn’t realize that it was plastic instead of metal and fell through the hole,” Mattsen said. “He was crunched down in a ball over by the rim there in pain. He did have some blood on him; his shirt was off, tore off it looked like.”

Sarasota County Fire Department responded to the scene. Mattsen says the worker was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and the extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
