NORTH PORT (SNN) – The Laundries filed to dismiss the civil lawsuit filed by Gabby Petito’s parents.

The Petito family is seeking $100,000 in damages for mental and emotional distress.

Attorney Steven Bertolino filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit Wednesday, calling the suit “baseless and frivolous.”

He also said his clients have exercised their constitutional rights.

The Venice attorney representing Gabby Petito’s parents shared the following statement.

“They’ll have to wait and see. If we didn’t believe it was true, we wouldn’t have put them in the complaint,” said Attorney Patrick Reilly.

There’s no timeline for when the motion will be heard.

Both parties are scheduled to appear in court this June.
