TAMPA (SNN-TV) – Jon Gruden has been out of coaching for a little more than a year, following his email scandal broken by the Wall Street Journal. But the Buccaneers Super Bowl winning coach and “Monday Night Football” announcer may be back on the sideline in 2023.

According to a report, the former NFL head coach has interest in one notable college football job. South Florida fired head coach Jeff Scott last night. Special teams coach Daniel Da Prato will take over on an interim basis. Scott was 4-26 in three years at USF with seven straight losses and a 1-8 overall record in 2022. Gruden, who coached in Tampa Bay for several years, reportedly has interest in the job.

Gruden hasn’t coached at the college level since 1991, when he was the wide receivers coach for Pittsburgh. Florida A&M HC Willie Simmons and former UCF and Nebraska HC Scott Frost, are top candidates for the job as well.
