SARASOTA – The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Ringling College welcomed the Jazz composer and Performer Dick Hyman to their Great Jazz Master class Wednesday.

Hyman was named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters fellow in 2017. Instructor at OLLI, Henry Ettman says it’s an honor to have him because the course is mainly about great pianists and he is one of them.

“He’s one of the nicest people on the planet for someone of his fame in the music world,” says Ettman. “He is just a great human being, and he has always been helpful to me and it just reciprocates by coming to my courses.”

Over his 60-year career, Hyman functioned as a pianist, organist, arranger, music director, and composer. His versatility in his career allowed him to be involved in film scores, orchestral compositions, and concert appearances.

Students had the opportunity to listen to some of his compositions while Hyman gave commentary.

Dick Hyman will be performing at the Municipal Auditorium on March 12th. For more information visit his official website.
