SARASOTA – A manatee is rescued after residents find the mammal unresponsive. We must warn some may find the images disturbing.
Julian Treadwell sent SNN the exclusive video. He says he saw the manatee near his home on Siesta Key Harbor. Spokesman for the Florida Fish & Wildlife (FWC) Adam Brown says they received the call just after 3 pm on Saturday.
FWC and MOTE Marine Lab biologist were able to transport the manatee to receive medical attention.
A MOTE biologist says the manatee suffered complications due to a boat strike. Officials were not able to comment on the condition of the manatee at this time.
