SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN TV) – Florida ranks in the top half of states for most confrontational drivers.

A Forbes Advisor survey interviewed 10,000 licensed drivers across 50 states. The survey looked at metrics including drivers forcing people off the road, being tailgated, honking, being cut off on purpose, and blocking the person’s car from changing lanes.

Florida was ranked 17th in the nation.

51 percent of Floridians surveyed said someone has blocked them from changing lanes. 15 percent of drivers said another driver exited their car to yell at or fight with them. 19.5 percent said they experience road rage “very frequently.”

The top reasons cited nationwide for feeling road rage were heavy traffic, already feeling stressed, running late, already feeling angry, and feeling tired.

Freeways or highways topped the list of where drivers experience road rage the most.

The top five states for aggressive drivers are Arizona, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Virginia, and Oklahoma.
