SARASOTA – UN Women USA Gulf Coast Chapters host their ‘Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival’ in Sarasota this weekend, March 6-8.

It’s a film festival to raise funds to help empower women, eliminate abuse towards women, and offer gender equality.

Communications Director, Chris Martin, says they received more than 300 submissions from all around the world, and they curated 37 of them.

Topics touch on beauty standards, defining age and how women find their voice.

Martin says this will be a whole new watching experience for the Suncoast.

“When you go to a mainstream theater, in most cases, men are saving women on film,” Chris Martin said. “And, in our films, the women are finding their own voice, their own strength, and their own bravery.”

It’s a fundraiser where all are welcome.

Friday night, their opening night party will be at Burns Court and Saturday and Sunday will be at Regal Hollywood 11 Cinemas.  Times range. For more information, you can visit http://www.throughwomenseyes.com/.
