SARASOTA (SNN-TV) – With the high school basketball postseason in full swing, the Florida Athletic Coaches Association has announced Boys’ Basketball District 16 Awards.

The FACA released players and coaches of the year in each class, as well as naming an overall player and coach of the year for the entire district.

Southeast’s Karmani Gregory was named the District 16 Overall player of the year as well as the 5A POTY and Cardinal Mooney’s Vince Cherry was named the District 16 Coach of the Year and the Class 3A COTY.

 

The player of the year the field is highlighted by:

2A: Bradenton Christian – Jaden Baker

3A: Cardinal Mooney – Dylan Higgins

4A: Parrish Community – Joey Decker

5A: Bradenton Christian – Karmani Gregory

6A: Palmetto – Duke Timmons

7A: Riverview – Jamier Jones

 

As for Coach of the Year:

2A: Bradenton Christian – Scott Townsend

3A: Vince Cherry – Cardinal Mooney

4A: Parrish Community – Ryan Kardok

5A: Southeast – Jonathan Castaneda

6A: Palmetto – Abel Varnadore

7A: Riverview – Rudy Fraraccio
