SARASOTA (SNN-TV) – Former Braden River and Sarasota HS star, Eric Skoglund is still chasing his big-league dreams for the Kansas City Royals

Skoglund finds himself at the Triple-A level in the bullpen for the Omaha Storm Chasers. The 6’7 lefty has journeyed from the Suncoast to UCF, to being drafted in 2013, to making his big-league debut for the Royals back in 2017.

A big hurdle in Skoglund’s MLB career was the Tommy-John surgery he had last summer. Having rehabbed for a year, Skoglund began the journey back to Kansas City in the last few months, climbing the ranks from Low-A to Triple-A.

But the love of the game, keeps the Sarasota native motivated.

“I’m going to play this game until someone rips this jersey off my back. I’ve said that since I was in college. I love this game more than anything, other than my family and my fiancee. This game has given me so much and I feel like I owe it back.”

Skoglund and the Storm Chasers are currently in the middle of a six-game series with the St. Paul Saints; first pitch tonight is at 8:05pm and can be seen on MiLB.TV.
