SARASOTA – A St. Bernard is on the loose and going on the attack in a Sarasota neighborhood.

“My 14 year old was taking the dog out for a walk, and as soon as he stepped outside of the door, a dog just came at him from nowhere,” said Sarasota resident, Melissa Jeffrey.

Although, the mini-golden doodle named Dobby was not hurt, the 14 year old boy suffered a bite

“He got a severe puncture wound on his forearm and multiple puncture wounds on the bottom of his arm, so he got inside and we did call the police, and they had animal services come as well, and we found out that another little dog in the neighborhood have been bitten too and that one had to go to the veterinarian,” said Jeffrey.

Now, Jeffrey hopes the owner will come forward.

“To make sure he doesn’t have to get a rabbis’ shot, because if they can’t locate the dog to quarantine it, he would have to have the rabbis shot,” said Jeffrey.

One neighbor recognized the dog, as it’s been seen before in the neighborhood near Beneva and Bee Ridge Road.

“And said that dog has escaped and been loose in our neighborhood before, and they actually have pictures of it, and that was in September that he was also roaming around the neighborhood, and apparently is very dog aggressive,” said Jeffrey.

Jeffrey says she does not want anything to happen to the dog, but hopes the owner is more careful

“Making sure that the dog is secure whether it’s on a leash or inside, I know some dogs are just dog aggressive and you can’t always train that out of them but as a dog owner you have to be responsible so it can’t hurt other people or other dogs,” said Jeffrey.

SNN is still awaiting the full incident report from the Sarasota County Animal Services, as it is still pending.
