SARASOTA – History was made and records were shattered as the V Foundation hosted the 15th Annual Dick Vitale Gala.
However, for the first time rather than rubbing elbows with sports legends and the top athletes of today; we all tuned in virtually with the man of the hour sports broadcasting legend Mr. Dick Vitale.
“I want to say I’m thrilled that we have found a way in these troubling times for all of us to gather together at least virtually to support this incredible cause,” said Vitale.
The virtual experience was by far not an unprecedented event as the pandemic has forced many fundraising events to go digital.
But that wasn’t enough to stop Dickie V’s goal of raising $5 million dollars to fund pediatric cancer research. A goal that organizations like the WWE helped reach by donating close to $1 million to the V Foundation.
“And if I may Dickie V and WWE well that tag team is awesome baby!” said Stephanie McMahon, WWE Chief Brand Officer.
The virtual exhilarating night wouldn’t end there. The galas honorees were each presented with their awards and shared their personal stories of how cancer has impacted their life’s.
“I’ve been blessed to coach some of the greatest football players of all time, and while the wins on the football field have been fantastic I’m most proud of the work we’ve accomplished with C.A.S.A. and the Guardian Ad Litem programs,” said Bruce Arians Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach.
And Dickie V couldn’t forget about his Courage’s Kids who demonstrate bravery and in immortal word of Jimmy Valvano they never give up.
