UNITED STATES (WSNN) – The coronavirus had choreographers become cinematographers on National Water Dance Day.

Dancers came together in a virtual movement bringing attention to water issues, this past Saturday.

Solo dancers and group dancers participated in the virtual event.

Some movers gathered at water sites and while others danced in their homes incorporating a water element.

But, since we can’t physically come together, dance groups had to unite through a zoom video call.

Choreographers had to work with a “digital stage.”

Orange Grove Dance artistic directors from Washington D.C, Matt Reeves & Colette Krogol, say this event offered an opportunity to connect and reflect during tough times.

It was a really beautiful experience for us,” Reeves said. “I guess we were kind of surprised at how we’re still able to engage through Facebook live. Maybe it’s the time we’re living in right now; we need different ways to connect, we need different ways to not literally dance together but dance together, move together, to think about things and reflect together.”

“And that allowed us to see just see the breadth of the nation moving together, where maybe if it would have all happened live, we might have not had as much documentation,” Krogol said.

The National Water Dance Website has information on how you can take action water issues. For information on how to watch the recorded performances, you can visit their website.
