SARASOTA – Two games this week allow you to craft your own story, as two playthroughs by two people will likely be very different. Ringling College professor Martin Murphy joined us for this week in video games. One game is Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition which finally lands on the Nintendo Switch. This is a game for all ages and, if you’re not much of a gamer but don’t mind playing a little with friends or family, is one that’s perfect to play with kids.

12 Minutes, on the other hand, is a more mature game. In 12 Minutes, you’re in a time loop that lasts 12 minutes. During this loop, a cop enters your home, arrests your wife for murder, then knocks you down and chokes you. You wake up at the end and realize time has gone backwards. You have memories of each loop you experienced, so you may try to convince your wife that the time loop is real (if you can), or try to hide from the cop. You’ll be looping quite a bit as you learn a bit more about your wife and why the cop is there, and you’ll have to use that information to finally get out of the loop. 12 Minutes features a star-studded cast of Daisy Ridley, James McAvoy, and William Dafoe.

Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition is on the Nintendo Switch but is also available on the Playstation 4 (can also be played on Playstation 5), Xbox One (can also be played on the Xbox Series systems), and PC. 12 Minutes is available on PC and Xbox.
