NORTH PORT (SNN-TV) – Over the weekend in North Port, the Atlanta Braves and CoolToday Park hosted the “World Champion Welcome Weekend” event, showcasing the organization for the local fans.

The Atlanta Braves won the franchises 4th World Series this past season, and to celebrate, thousands of Braves fans gathered at CoolToday park to reign in the upcoming season.

The park presented live music, local food trucks, among many other sources of entertainments.

The 2021 World Series trophy was on display, as well as a parade including the world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales.

The Braves also hosted multiple meet-and-greet autograph signings with Braves legends, including the likes of play-by-play man Chip Caray, Braves manager Brian Snitker and legendary Atlanta outfielder Andruw Jones.

Jones, a star with the Braves from 1996 to 2007, was thrilled to see the fans out at the ballpark, despite the uncertainty concerning the MLB lockout.

“I’m surprised to see so many fans out. I’m sure they’re ready for Spring Training baseball. It’s nice to be out here and be apart of the World Series festivities.”

Major League Baseball, as of now, has officially postponed the beginning of Spring Training until March 5th, with a longer delay impending. Jones is hoping to see things back to normal.

”You know, hopefully, we can get this going quick enough so we can have a good Spring Training, not a rushed Spring Training and start our season on time.”

The Braves aim to play in front of a full capacity CoolToday Park crowd whenever baseball allows.
