LAKEWOOD RANCH – Dozens of classic cars lined up the street of Main Street in Lakewood Ranch for one of first classic car show of the year hosted by Ed’s Tavern and Lance’s Cruzin to the Hop Car Show. Classic cars from as far back as the 1930’s are brought together every first Wednesday of the month to take folks down memory lane.

“Wednesday nights, this great car show, lot of good restaurants, lot of phenomenal cars, neat people and they love to see this,” said Buzz Fisher.

Fisher has been collecting classic cars for the past 35 years. Crowds passing by admire his replica 1935 Mercedes Benz 500K. Fisher bought the car from a friend 5 years ago and has taken it on the road for shows ever since.

“It’s so unusual – up and above the normal cars at the car show,” said Fisher. “Everybody’s seen Chevrolet’s and Dodges and Fords but nobody has seen anything like this.”

Fisher says a lot hard work goes into making these cars look like new and nothing beats the satisfaction of a job well done.

“Going through all the fluids, changing everything out,” he said. “All the rubber parts in an old car like this and just spending your time and your money getting it up to speed.”

Proceeds of Lance’s Cruzin to the Hop Car Show goes to a local non-profit on the Suncoast to help give back to the community that love their classic car shows that help some residents reminisce of the cars they grew up with.
