SARASOTA – With less than 50 days left to cast your vote in the presidential elections, new allegations made by the Atlantic paint a picture of what could happen if President Trump loses.
It’s not the first time we’ve heard it. Many choosing to believe that if President Trump looses in November he may not go down without a fight.
But an article published by the Atlantic claims the Republican Party has a contingency plan set in place to bypass the election results.
“It’s preposterous and it’s not needed because we’re going to win. Nothing like that has ever been discussed,” said Senator Joe Gruters.
Gruters, Chairman for Florida’s GOP, calls the allegations “idiotic” and untrue. Gruters says the Atlantic’s inside source is another example of the “Fake News Media” attempt to sway the election for the Democrats.
“Basically I’m a chairman and a state senator and so they’re talking legislative and party process as well,” said Gruters. “And so I will tell you without question there’s been no discussion and we would never do that.”
The article states… “According to sources in the Republican Party at the state and national levels, the Trump campaign is discussing contingency plans to bypass election results and appoint loyal electors in battleground states where Republicans hold the legislative majority.”
“The press should print these stories with anonymous sources. Listen I’m the state party chairman you would think that any type of discussion would be made with me,” said Gruters. “I will tell you its preposterous, it’s crazy, nothing like that has ever even been discussed. It’s unfortunate that people would make these claims and without any bases or reality.”
SNN has not been able to prove or verify the validity of the claims made by in the article. Sen. Gruters says he hopes voters do their own research when deciding who they will choose come Nov 3rd.
Recent polls in Florida are in favor of President Trump over Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden.
