NORTH PORT (SNN-TV) – Turnabout is fair play. The Atlanta Braves have signed former Los Angeles Dodgers closer, Kenley Jansen, to a one-year, $16M contract, officially ending his time with the Dodgers after 12 seasons.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the club placed RHP Jay Jackson on the 60-day IL with a right lat strain.

Jansen finished with 38 saves and 2.22 ERA in 69 games last year for the Dodgers. Jansen ranked second in the National League in saves, trailing only San Diego’s Mark Melancon.

The 34-year-old’s 2.37 career ERA is the third lowest for a pitcher with at least 700 career innings in the Live Ball Era (since 1920), trailing only Mariano Rivera and Billy Wagner.

Jansen joins a Braves bullpen already consisting of Will Smith, Luke Jackson, Tyler Matzek, and recently signed Collin McHugh.
