NAPLES, FL (SNN-TV) – Earlier today, Chubb Classic defending champion Bernhard Langer participated in a media conference call previewing this year’s event taking place Feb. 13-19 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples.

Langer, a four-time winner of the Chubb Classic, will be chasing history when he tees it up in February, as he is one win shy of Hale Irwin’s record of 45 PGA TOUR Champions victories.

The German believes he can still play at a high level, and says the Chubb Classic is where he plays his best.

“I believe I have a few more wins in me. Still playing full time and excited to defend my title in Naples. It’s probably the tournament I want the most. I’ve won one or two others maybe three times, but I think it’s the only one I’ve won four times, and I’ve won it on different golf courses. I think I have a slight advantage living in South Florida.”

Joining Langer in the field and headlining the latest wave of early commitments include major champions Steve Stricker, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk and Tom Lehman.
