It’s Super Bowl Sunday and some of us may have plans to go out to enjoy the historic Big Game. If that sounds like your Super Bowl plans – AAA wants drivers to have a game plan for getting home safely.

“It’s the Super Bowl it’s tradition. So many people want to be with friends or with family to watch the game, and so you’re likely to see more traffic especially in the Tampa Bay area with so many people in town for the game itself,” said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.

The City of Tampa is more than ready to host Super Bowl 55; for those of us who have plans to hit the road to watch the Big Game, its never to late to have a plan in place to make sure you get back home safely after the night’s festivities.

“If you’re watching the Big Game either at the stadium or at home it’s just so important right now, to have a game plan in place to make sure you aren’t making the bad game time decisions to get behind the wheel impaired,” said Jenkins.

Jenkins says they’re anticipating seeing an increase number of motorists on the road; and unlike past years Jenkins says their Tow-to-Go program will not be offered to drivers due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

Instead, Jenkins has AAA’s 4-Down game plan for driving safe this weekend,

“Really first and fore most develop your plan right now. Identify who your sober driver is going to be. If you’re driving, make sure you’re wearing your seat belt,” said Jenkins, “You want to minimize distractions while you’re behind the wheel, that includes putting your cell phone down. And allowing extra time to get to your destination.”

Meanwhile the CDC is recommending the best and safest way to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in their home turf, is by watching the game in your home turf.

Health experts suggest watching the game with people you live with or attend a virtual gathering. But if do you plan on attending or hosting a gathering with people who don’t live with you, outdoors is safer than indoors.

So, if you’re planning on going out to watch the game avoid any flags on the play to steer clear of ending up on the losing end by making a mistake you’ll easily regret.
