SARASOTA (WSNN) – It’s November which means the season of giving is here. All Faiths Food Bank kicks off its annual turkey distribution at the Van Wezel, Saturday morning.

Hundreds of cars lined up to pick up full Thanksgiving dinners. Including frozen turkeys, side dishes, and even an extra sentimental gift: flowers.

President and CEO, Sandra Frank says the line of cars at the Van Wezel is a demonstration of the hunger on the Suncoast.

The nearly 700 meals they prepared is for families in need, to have food on the table for Thanksgiving.

“Probably more special this year than ever before, that we are here for these families,” Frank said. “We don’t want them to lose hope, don’t want them to think that they’re alone. The community is here to support them. And i really think that our community understands that the spirit of the season is about helping other people.”

“Everybody is out of work, nobody can work, nobody can buy food,” Sarasota Resident, Annie Decoste said. “It means a lot. I love everyone that is helping us out.”

This is the first of many turkey drives all faiths plans on doing throughout November.

The next one in Sarasota is at Ed Smith Stadium. You can find the details here.
