VENICE – The 61st annual Venice Children’s Halloween parade saw hundreds crowd the streets of downtown Venice on this spooky Halloween.
More than 500 kids of all ages and their parents got to trick or treat and received candy from the stores along the historic downtown. Several new faces participated in the parade for the first time including 8-year-old Taylor Roberts from Michigan who chose an interesting costume.
“I thought it was a really funny costume so I really wanted to be it and I thought about a dinosaur so that’s how I picked it out,” said Roberts.
Joann Bova recently moved to the Suncoast and says she feels at home.
“Venice is –how friendly they are with pets and how friendly just the whole community is and inviting to new residents,” said Bova. “Although I’ve only been here for a year and a half it seems like I’ve been here forever.”
The Venice Lions Club as well as Venice Main Street Association host the annual parade. The parade traveled westbound on the new Venice Ave after a year of being under construction.
