SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) — A 29-year-old Nokomis man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Friday evening.

Florida Highway Patrol said the man was driving a sedan with a 26-year-old woman in the passenger seat. He was driving east on Oak Street and stopped at a stop sign on U.S. 41.

A Fort Wayne, Indiana man was driving an SUV south on U.S. 41 approaching Oak Street.

The sedan attempted to cross U.S. 41 in the direct path of the SUV.

The SUV collided with the left side of the sedan.

The Nokomis man was pronounced dead on scene, according to FHP. His passenger and the driver of the S-U-V sustained minor injuries.

FHP said all involved were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
