CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) – A 28-year-old Port Charlotte woman is killed after being hit by a car Sunday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol says this happened around 8:20 A.M. on Chancellor Boulevard and Eppinger Drive.

A 66-year-old man was driving his sedan east on Chancellor, approaching the intersection. The woman was riding her bike north on Eppinger, also approaching the intersection. She didn’t stop at the stop sign, and the man drove into her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office warned on Sunday morning that the road would be closed for several hours.
