MANATEE COUNTY – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed two people.

State Trooper Kenn Watson tells SNN the crash happened along U.S. 41 and Seagate Drive just after 7:30 p.m. Monday night.

According to Watson three vehicles were involved in the crash, when a gray Nissan allegedly pulled out of a parking lot in the 8400 Block of U.S. 41 and striking two vehicles.

The two occupants of the Nissan were killed. Three occupants in a BMW sustained minor injuries, while two other occupants inside the Volkswagen are reported to have suffered serious injuries.

“What we’re going to try and do now is have our traffic homicide team report and make sure that they put all of the pieces of the puzzle together,” said Trooper Watson.

Trooper Watson says it’s to early to tell what caused the crash but it appears the driver of the Nissan may have violated the right of way of the two other vehicles that were traveling northbound on U.S. 41.

“People that are traveling northbound on U.S. 41 please expect delays,” Trooper Watson says. “Florida Highway Patrol is going to be out here for several more hours as we investigate this crash.”

No information on the victims or those injured have been released at this time. We’ll be sure to update you here on SNN with the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
