MANATEE – FOUR STUDENTS RECEIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT AFTER INGESTING A PRESCRIPTION DRUG AT SCHOOL. 

According to a manatee county Sheriff’s office spokesperson, around 11:30 Friday a student at Bradenton’s Horizon’s Academy took and gave the controlled substance to three other students; all four are minors.

All four students reacted differently to the drug and all needed medical attention. None of the effects were life threatening, but one student was administered narcan.

Three students were transported to Manatee Memorial, the fourth treated by EMS and the school nurse.

The 14-year-old male who brought the prescription drug from home to school is charged with distribution of a controlled substance.
