****UPDATE*** SARASOTA – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly multiple motorcycle crash that happened last night on I-75 southbound near mile marker 210. Investigators say eight motorcycles were involved.

56-yr-old David Boland of Englewood was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle, and then flew into the tires of a tractor-trailer truck about 7:30 last night. Four other Suncoast men, all fellow motorcyclists, were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Roger Moore, 55, and Michael Houck, 40,  both of Sarasota, along with 51-year-old Donald Kidwell and 50-year old David Mashia, both of Venice, all have serious injuries. None were wearing helmets. The truck driver, 46-year-old William Suarez-Gonzalez of Miami, was not injured.

All southbound lanes between Fruitville Road and Bee Ridge Road In Sarasota were closed for hours. All lanes were re-opened just after 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
