SARASOTA (SNN)– Testing sites on the Suncoast were overwhelmed as the Delta variant slammed the Sunshine state. People were forced to wait in lines over four hours long to get a single test – that’s when Lab Services decided to step in.

“We wanted to be part of the solution,” said Co-founder of Lab Services Mari Barnes. “We have the ability to put all boots on the ground and set up these testing sites to see if we can make a difference in identifying cases and helping people get back to school and work.”

Lab Services started here in Sarasota with the goal of providing testing to those who need it, in an accurate and timely manner.

“Our focus has always been Sarasota. We are part of this community, we are dedicated to this community – that’s why we decided to partner with these testing sites. We saw the need here,” said Barnes.

Lab Services is able to fulfill its goal by administering PCR tests.

“PCR testing is 99.8 percent accurate,” said CEO and President of Lab Services Michael Fitch. “We are trying to offer the most accurate testing with the best turnaround time.”

The lab site says that they offer PCR testing in other formats like for UTIs and that they are imperative for those who are in need.

“Diagnostics are a huge part of patient care and there are a lot of communities and groups that are underserved with diagnostics,” said Barnes.

Lab Services goal is to create a place where diagnostics are easily accessible to everyone.
