MIAMI (WSNN) – Governor Ron DeSantis says he would be ready to host a GOP convention in Florida if it came down to it.

In Miami on Tuesday, DeSantis says he would welcome the Republican National Convention if President Donald Trump continues to insist on moving it from North Carolina. It’s scheduled to be held at Charlotte in August, but the North Carolina governor is in a “shutdown mood,” wanting to restrict large-gatherings.

Gov. Desantis says after losing out on Major events like WrestleMania in Tampa, the state lost millions in economic activity.
But, hosting a GOP convention would have a positive economic impact.

“In terms of the RNC, Florida would love to have the RNC,” Gov. Desantis said. “Heck, I’m a Republican, I think it would be good for us to have the DNC in terms of the economic impact when you talk about major events like that. So my posture on all this is we could try to get it done as best we in accordance with whatever safety requirements.”

Desantis says if the President decides to hold a convention and create proper safety guidelines, then the state should try to make it happen.

His stance on major events is “Florida wants to work with you.” Desantis is encouraging anyone from sports teams to businesses to reach out if they have an event coming up.
