SARASOTA (WSNN) – Papa Joe’s Sports Bar is open and popping bottle caps. again.
SNN spoke with the owners last week when they were preparing to reopen, and now we’re checking in.
Father, Sid Harris, and son, Joe Harris, run the business together and said they were going into devastation. They’ve been closed since the end of March.
But, now with the bar open, Joe says it’s been very busy with hundreds of people walking through their doors.
Joe says the bar is more than a business, it’s a family. He says it means a lot for his 88-year-old dad to work again.
“This keeps me alive,” Sid Harris said.
“He’s here every morning to open the bar and get them changed and everything,” Joe said.
“The bar manager usually does everything,” Sid said. “I just make sure she gets changed, and get bottles of liquor out there that she needs. Everything she needs I handle. We’ve been here 16 years, and we hope for another 16.”
The bar is new and improved with floors, painted walls, and bar stools. The bar is operating at 50% capacity, with tables separated according to CDC guidelines.
