VENICE (SNN-TV) – Venice’s biggest game so far this season takes place this Friday at Powell-Davis Stadium, where the Indians will host the Buchholz Bobcats in the Class 4S State Semifinals.

Following their 35-15 regional title victory over Riverview last week, the Indians face their biggest test of the season, outside of IMG Academy and St. Frances. The Indians have scored 161 points during this playoff, finding themselves one win away from returning to DRV PNK Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale with hopes to win back-to-back state championships.

Buchholz has held their own on offense this playoffs as well, notching 110 points in three wins over Pace, Crestview and top-seeded Bartram Trail. The Bobcats are led on offense by a trio of stars: Mississippi State commit QB Creed Whittemore, Delaware commit WR Ja’Carree Kelly, and recent Alabama commit WR Jaren Hamilton. And on defense, Florida target DL Kendall Jackson draws most of the attention.

The winner of this semifinal will face the victor of Osceola and Lakeland. Friday’s kickoff is set for 7:30pm in Venice.
