SOUTHERN PINES, NC (SNN-TV) – One of the premiere majors for the LPGA Tour gets underway tomorrow at Southern Pines.
The U.S. Women’s Open is back at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines for a record fourth time with a purse of $10 million and plenty of storylines.
Between Michelle Wie West’s impending retirement, the return of three-time champion Annika Sorenstam, and the crop of young players at the top of the game, this year’s tournament is set to be a strong one.
Bradenton’s own and world No.2 golfer, Nelly Korda, returns to the links tomorrow after undergoing surgery for a blood clot in her left arm back in April.
Korda spoke to the media about what her expectations are for her return to the game.
“To tee up and to hit my first shot on Thursday. That is as far as I’m looking right now. I’ve been out of competition since early February, and I’m honestly just grateful to be out here. I’m going to take it one step at a time. I’m not expecting too much.”
Korda is set to tee-off tomorrow afternoon at 2:24pm.
