ST. PETERSBURG (SNN-TV) – The Tampa Bay Rays placed All-Star left-hander Shane McClanahan on the 15-day IL today, a day after he was scratched from his start because of left shoulder impingement.
Rays Manager Kevin Cash said an MRI today for McClanahan confirmed diagnosis of impingement, and that it’s the “best case scenario”. McClanahan will receive a cortisone shot and could be back in 15 days.
McClanahan has made 24 starts, tallying an 11-5 record, with a 2.20 ERA and has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the major leagues this season.
