SUNCOAST (SNN TV) – Sarasota County schools announce that public schools will remain open Monday but may close Tuesday to open as shelters. The county will update the community on Monday.

Sarasota County has also announced locations open for sandbags Monday. They are:

  • Twin Lakes Park (6700 Clark Road), Sarasota
  • Ed Smith Stadium (2700 12th Street), Sarasota
  • South County Fleet Services (4571 SR 776), Venice

They will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., but weather could impact sandbag operation times. 

In Manatee County, sandbag distribution centers are located at

  • Bayfront Park (316 N Bay Blvd), Anna Maria
  • Bennett Park (280 Kay Rd), Bradenton
  • Bradenton Area Convention Center (1 Haben Blvd), Palmetto
  • Buffalo Creek Park (7550 69th St E), Palmetto
  • Coquina Beach (2650 Gulf Drive), Bradenton Beach
  • G.T. Bray Park (5502 33rd Ave Dr W), Bradenton
  • Manatee Beach (4000 State Road 64 and Gulf Drive), Holmes Beach
  • Myakka Community Center (10060 Wauchula Rd), Myakka City
  • Rubonia Community Center (1309 72nd St E), Palmetto

There’s a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle.
