BOCA RATON (SNN-TV) – With the college football regular season, having came to a close, end-of-year awards are beginning to trickle down.

Two Suncoast alum were honored as part of Conference USA’s All-Freshman team. Former Venice wideout and FAU return specialist Jayshon Platt and former Palmetto-turned-Owl linebacker Jaylen Wester, received there honors yesterday.

Appearing in 11 of FAU’s 12 games, Wester had an outstanding freshman campaign, tallying 57 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, one interception, three quarterback hurries and one pass break-up.

As for the former state champion Platt, he returned 7 kicks on the season for the Owls for a total of 135 yards, with his longest return being 29 yards.
