NEWARK, NJ (SNN-TV) – The Lightning were back in action last night in their second game this week in Newark against the Devils.

The Lightning swept this mini two-game series in New Jersey, defeating the Devils 4-3 in a shootout last night at the Prudential Center.

Tampa Bay led for long stretches, but never managed to pull away, surrendering three New Jersey equalizers throughout regulation.

After Steven Stamkos and Timo Meier traded late third period goals, a scoreless overtime was followed by a shootout. Alex Killorn delivered the game winning goal in the third round when his shot rang off the post and past Akira Schmid.

The Lightning now return home for a weekend back-to-back where they’ll face the Canadiens and the Devils again, beginning tomorrow night at 7pm against Montreal.
