VENICE (SNN TV) – Close to 500 friends, family, and local officials gather and remember Nancy Detert Saturday.
The former Sarasota County Commissioner represented District 3 from 2016 until her death. She also served as a Sarasota County School Board member, and a Florida Representative and Senator.
The Herald-Tribune says her son tearfully gave a eulogy. He says he’ll forever cherish Saturday mornings when Nancy would play record after record as the family cleaned the house, including “My Fair Lady” and “Cabaret.”
Former Florida House Rep and Senator Lisa Carlton also gave a eulogy; she knew Detert since 1988 and says she cherishes her mentorship.
She passed away peacefully in her home in Venice on April 5. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to Gulf Coast Community Foundation with the memo line, “Nancy Detert Memorial Fund.”
