NORTH PORT (SNN TV) – A North Port man is found guilty of murder in connection to the shooting of his ex-girlfriend.

The Herald-Tribune reports the jury deliberated for an hour and 20 minutes Friday before coming back with a verdict of guilty of first-degree murder for Robert Parolisi. He’s a North Port man who was charged in the shooting death of Amber Shildneck in 2020.

The judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole.

Parolisi’s attorney argued during the trial that his client acted in self-defense. His attorney says they’ll likely seek an appeal.

The Assistant State Attorney argued premeditation, pointing to casings around the body showing he had to be standing over or close to her, not four feet away as he alleged.

Shildneck’s friends and family hugged and cried after the verdict. Her father said, “My sweet girl was a gentle soul.” And her childhood friend said she would never forgive Parolisi for taking Amber’s life.
