FLORIDA (SNN TV) – A Florida prosecutor drops all trespassing charges against Florida Democratic leaders.

In April, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried, Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book, and nine other abortion rights protesters were arrested in front of Tallahassee City Hall. They were protesting the governor’s and legislature’s new abortion bans.

According to the Herald-Tribune, State Attorney Jack Campbell says he dropped the charges because he thinks they wanted to be arrested, and “extending their notoriety” through the courts would encourage more unlawful behavior.

Fried says she “would have gladly gone to trial over this because Floridians are being denied the fundamental right to control their own bodies. If that’s not worth being arrested for, I don’t know what is.”
