FLORIDA (SNN TV) – A top advisor to U.S. Senator Rick Scott shoots down a report that Scott is considering entering the presidential race.

According to the Herald-Tribune, senior adviser Chris Hartline wrote that it’s “flattering” this is being reported, but the Senator is running for reelection to the Senate.

This follows a New York Times story that Scott was considering a late entry to the 2024 Republican primary field. Three Floridians — Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, Governor Ron DeSantis, and former president Donald Trump — are already in the race.

Scott served as Florida’s governor from 2011 to 2019 before becoming Florida’s junior senator in January 2019.

The 70-year-old Senator chaired the National Republican Senatorial Committee but failed to secure a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate in 2022 and unsuccessfully challenged Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for his leadership position.

No Democrat has announced yet that they’re running against Senator Scott.
