SARASOTA (SNN-TV)“After much consideration, we’ve come to a decision…if you ain’t a Gator, then you’re Gator bait!” – Teddy Foster, Cardinal Mooney senior

Teddy Foster committing to Florida over Miami and North Carolina seemed like the betting choice going into tonight’s festivities, but the selection certainly didn’t sour the mood as the Cardinal Mooney standout delighted the Gecko’s crowd.

A year in half ago, Foster joined the Cougars squad 5 games into his sophomore year, but it was decision that proved pivotal evident of tonight’s outing. Teddy’s mother Cecelia Davis, says the path that her son’s journey has set him on, was all meant to be.

“I’m just grateful. I’ve seen him work hard and I’ve seem him transition from basketball to football in the blink of an eye. He just went up. What’s God will, is God’s will at this point.” – Cecelia Davis, Teddy Foster’s mother

Starring on both sides of the ball for the Cougars, in his junior campaign Foster accounted for two interceptions, nine pass deflections, and 38 total tackles, while also totaling 17 receptions for 242 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Cougars head coach Jared Clark has witnessed Foster’s development first hand. His athletic capabilities are obvious in nature, but his character speaks volumes, as droves of collegiate coaches left after visiting Cardinal Mooney, certain that they needed Foster on their rosters.

“He’s a natural born leader. Everybody that’s around him gravitates towards him. They’re [Florida] are going to get a kid that is hungry to get better. He wants to get better everyday, he continues to ask for coaching. He works his tail off and he’s just a great young man.” – Jared Clark, Cardinal Mooney Head Coach

A year away from joining a Billy Napier-led Florida Gators squad that finished 6-7 last season, good for 5th in the SEC East, Foster relishes the opportunity, and is primed to make an immediate impact in Gainesville.

“I’m excited. [I’m] Glad to see all my hard work has paid off. I’m really, really happy about my choice, 1,000% committed. I’m just ready to get to work.” – Teddy Foster, University of Florida commit

Before he heads to “The Swamp”, Teddy, Coach Clark, and Cardinal Mooney prepare for their kickoff classic on August 25th against Avon Park, which serves as a precursor for their Week 1 home opener against Lakewood Ranch.
