MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV)- The school year is right around the corner and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office helped to prepare.

The Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the Palmetto Youth Center for the “Back to School Backpack Giveaway” event Saturday.

There were free backpacks, school supplies, food, drinks, virtual reality games, and water slides all at this one event.

Special teams members got to talk to attendees and share more about what they do, while enjoying lunch cooked by the Corrections Bureau staff.

The event ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Palmetto Youth Center.
