The Suncoast is honoring those who served, with the annual Veterans Day Parade.
“We owe so much to our Veterans,” said veteran, Bob Chambers. “This is what the country needs, is this kind of support and fun.”
Chambers served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Chambers cheered along the parade route supporting what he says are the future service e men and woman of America.
“I did my job, and all the people before me, they did their job,” said Chambers. “All the people after me, they’re doing their job. So these kids are the ones, they need the support.”
Families waved their American flags and saluted to veterans and thanked them for their service.
“We are here to thank the veterans and the people who are actively serving for their commitment,” said Caryn Patterson.
This parade was even more special for Caryn Patterson, now that her own children are walking in the parade with the Sarasota Military Academy.
“That’s what I want to teach my kids,” said Patterson. “They come here and they give back by just honoring the veterans who have served and made our country free.”
Chambers says the children walking in the parade are America’s future and he’s proud to seem them march.
“I love the country, period,” said Chambers. “I love our troops, I don’t care, Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guards all of them, first responders, I just love them.”
