SARASOTA – Hundreds of fans packed Ed Smith Stadium for the opening game of Spring Training.
Fans purchased their last minute game day tickets and off they were to find their seats. First pitch was just after one this afternoon.
Orioles fan John D’Amato recently moved to the Suncoast from Maryland and made a retirement list of attending all Spring Training opening games as possible.
“I retired and this is one of my retirement things to do a spring training tour and I wanted to go to the O’s cause I moved from Maryland aid D’Amato. “They’re growing, hopefully they won’t tank but it looks like they’ll have a blow 500 record but they’re growing.”
The Orioles played the Minnesota Twins winning their first game of the season seven to two.
