MANATEE – The Pittsburgh Pirates had their opening game of the spring training season at LECOM Park against the Miami Marlins.
Hundreds of fans packed the stadium to find their seats in time for the opening pitch. The Pirates played the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater on Saturday winning three to two.
Bobby Payne has been a lifelong fan of the pirates fan and is excited to bring his son to his first baseball game.
“I’ve been a huge Pirates fan, I watch every game every night and as soon as I had him I was excited to have someone to watch baseball with me gain,” said Payne. “And I’m just really excited to take him to his first game and first of many.”
The Pirates will play the Boston Red Sox Monday at LECOM Park. Opening pitch is at one.
