MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) – A 32-year-old Palmetto woman suffered serious injuries after her car was hit by a train in Manatee County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, at around 1:35 p.m. Saturday, the woman was trying to drive her SUV over the railroad tracks on 25th Street West and Bayshore Road.
The train was traveling south and approaching that intersection.
FHP said the woman disregarded the yield sign and traveled right in the path of the train. The train collided with the SUV, and she sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
