“This is an exciting especially for me this project has taken two years to bring to flourishing and I’m very excited to share it especially the Sarasota audience,” said Carlos Pagan.

Stars of the films and the directors hit the red carpet of the Sarasota Film Festival promoting their upcoming film premiers.

Pagan director of All There Is- A Circus Story came in support of the opening nights feature documentary.

“Right now this is a tumultuous time in our history, in our politics, in our economy and there are globalization issues that we are challenged with and what we need now are strong journalist like we’ve never had before to do investigative work to determine what’s fact from fiction,” said Pagan.

Dozens of movie goers line up early to secure good seats for the film.

Part-time Sarasota resident Alice Greenwald is attending her first Sarasota Film Festival and was one of the first people in line ready to get things started.

“I think it’s gonna be a very exciting time for Sarasota, I think it probably brings people to Sarasota which is good for our community and looking to learn something,” said Greenwald

Greenwald grew up watching the legendary journalist Mike Wallace on TV and was thrilled to find his documentary would be kicking off the 10 day festival.

“Mike Wallace is sort of an icon from our lifetime, so he was on 60 minutes for 40 years of whatever and we might’ve watched him almost every single Sunday night,” said Greenwald. “So we were happy to be able to see this film.”

Friday night was just the beginning. For the next week and a half the Suncoast will be submerged in all things film.
