MANATEE – Facials, manicures, and much more. 16 children with Sunshine Kids were treated to a day of pampering at the Sirius Day Spa in Lakewood Ranch.

“Amazing special day for Sunshine Kids we’re treating all the girls and one boy to a day of pampering,” said spa owner Karen Medford.

Medford says she hosted the event to give the kids something to look forward to outside of their routine often medically filled schedule. “We’re just making it special for them so they can enjoy being treated like the queens that they are,” she said.

From getting their hair styled to choosing the color of their nails the children enjoyed their time making new friends and having fun getting makeovers celebrating life.

“Especially for our Sunshine kids every day is a celebration and what they’re going through, trying to make them feel special,” said activities coordinator with Sunshine Kids Madison Alger.

This was the first time Millie Sica received a mini facial and says she enjoyed every minute of it. “I’ve just had the best time, I love the Sunshine Kids,” said Sica.

For many this was their first visit to a spa an event that Sunshine Kids and Sirius Spa hope to make an annual tradition. “They don’t get to do this on a normal basis, it’s just not the norm for them so getting to do this is really, really awesome,” said Alger.
