PORT CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says employees at the Chick-Fil-A on the 1800 block of Tamiami Trail were robbed at gunpoint. Now they’re asking for the public’s help with any information on the alleged robber.
“Yesterday our deputies responded to a call reporting an armed robbery that occurred at the Chick-fil-A in Port Charlotte,” said Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Katie Heck.
Deputies’ report that just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday a person walked into the restaurant as it was closing. Armed with a gun he demanded money from the employees.
“There was one suspect he did display a fire arm, we are looking right now just for information on who that person is,” said Heck.
The Sheriff’s office released this image of the alleged robber. He can be seen covering his face with what appears to be a bandanna as he enters the facility. Investigators aren’t releasing a description of the suspect at this time.
“We do have that photo that we released but we want to take tips from anyone who thinks they might know something,” said Heck.
The MO looks similar to a pair of restaurant robberies back in May. A Chick-fil-A robbery in Sarasota back on May 10th and a Sarasota Subway robbery occurred on May 29th.
A suspect dressed in similar style of clothing, face covered and armed with a handgun demanded money from the workers though deputies can’t confirm a connection between the robberies at this time.
“Our investigators are aware of those occurrences that did happen in Sarasota County,” said Heck. “They are speaking to Sarasota County detectives just too kind of compare information and see if anything might be similar.”
Investigators say the alleged robber fled the restaurant on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Anyone with information about this case can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered.
