SARASOTA COUNTY,  Fla. (SNN) — Over 40 Bay Village senior residents collaborated with students from Wilkinson Elementary on science projects on Thursday.

For the past four years, Bay Village and Wilkinson Elementary have maintained a strong partnership.

This ongoing collaboration has led to a series of projects.

Thirty-three Wilkinson STEAM students (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) arrived and wasted no time in engaging with the senior residents, passing on their knowledge on various science projects.

Bay Village resident, Terry Kall, emphasized that the event’s primary goal goes beyond learning science. He says it’s about making meaningful connections.

“Our residents don’t really have an opportunity to be with children. So, our residents are learning communication with the kids, the kids are learning communication with our residents. We want the interaction between two age groups, two very distinct age groups,” said Kall.

Bay Village and the Wilkinson team meet once a month to brainstorm ideas for upcoming events.
